Cerumen is a combination of ear wax, dry skin, hair and other debris that collects in the ear canal. Normally, cerumen falls out by itself. Sometimes cerumen can build up and block part or all of the ear canal, interfering with the use of hearing aids. The presence of excessive cerumen can be found using by a Hearing Healthcare Professional using an instrument called an otoscope. In most cases, cerumen can be safely removed by our audiologist for a reasonable fee. |
