Overview

This externship requires the student to have an exceptionally strong background in diagnostics, differential diagnoses, and medical aspects related to auditory disorders. These include, but are not limited to, surgical ears, sudden sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia. The student chosen for this externship will be supervised by two audiologists with over 10 years of experience in the field with a track record of successful externs (including former students who are current directors of their medical centers). During this externship, you will observe and participate in the administering of diagnostic audiological tests that allow the differentiation between types of hearing disorders; as well as provide hearing aid testing, selection and fitting to all populations (per program guidelines). The audiology extern will also be expected to review pricing and sale of hearing aids as part of the patient education process before the completion of their externship with Tobias & Battite.
